Session: Lessons Learned Leading an OSS Diversity Team
Open-source communities bring together people from various backgrounds and disciplines. As we work to make these communities more inclusive, we should focus on empowering underrepresented individuals to become community leaders. The path to community leadership, however, isn’t the same for everyone.
From defining the vision for the team, creating shared goals, communicating with power structures, and dealing with conflicts — enacting real, impactful change to make our communities more inclusive is hard.
In this session, Fatima will share lessons learned from leading the Drupal Diversity & Inclusion working group, strategies for aspiring community leaders, and how their peers can better support them to succeed.
