Fatima is an adventurous software engineer & open source contributor. She’s passionate about civic tech and committed to building more inclusive tech communities. She loves coding challenges, storytelling, and simplifying technical concepts. As a Developer Evangelist at Gitlab, she connects with other developers and shares knowledge and experiences at conferences and meetups.

Better known on the internets as the “effervescent sugaroverflow”, she has been a volunteer for the DrupalCon Program team, a core contribution mentoring lead, leader of the Drupal Diversity & Inclusion working group, and a curator for the Civic Tech Guide. In 2018, she received the Women in Communications & Technology (WCT) Rising Star leadership award for her efforts in teaching and advocacy. When she’s not playing board games with friends or catching pokemon in the east bay, you can find Fatima reading by the ocean.
