Session: Leveraging the OpenTelemetry Collector to Gather Your Observability Data
OpenTelemetry is a popular Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) open source project which builds telemetry collection APIs and SDKs in 11 languages as well as a Collector which is an observability data collection agent. The Collector can be configured to collect traces, metrics and logs from your applications and cloud and on-prem infrastructure to send for analysis to your monitoring service of choice.
This talk will walk through the OpenTelemetry Collector architecture, components, and functionality to collect observability data effectively and at scale. This talk will also dive into examples of Collector configurations, instrumentation as well as security and scalability considerations to keep in mind while setting up the Collector.
Come with your curiosity, questions, and workflow scenarios to learn about the OpenTelemetry Collector and what it can do for you to collect from different data sources and send to the monitoring service of your choice.
