Session: Ageism in the Workplace

Did you notice the greying around you? That is the ageing of babyboomers (born between 1946 and 1964). There is often much discussion about diversity in the workplace. However, age discrimination is as prevalent in the workplace as other forms of discrimination. This is especially true in information technology (IT). Older employees face job elimination, law or no pay increases, or attempts to force retirement. In politics and other areas, the browning and graying in America is often politicized for a specific agenda. Some research suggests most if not all babyboomers will be dead by 2044. And while we have a very capable workforce, the value of our older colleagues is beyond just numbers and politics. This presentation will discuss ageism and the value of all employees!
