Project Analysis Day 1: Finding your project in a jumble of data – Sophia Vargas
Measuring project health can be an elusive and complex exercise. While there are many tasks required to achieve this goal, this talk will focus on getting started – identifying your project through the lens of various data sources. While this may seem straightforward, the same approach is often incompatible across a set of projects with a variety in functionality, purpose, and organizational model.
This talk will highlight various approaches and challenges that I faced while pursuing this exercise across thousands of projects, with the hope that we as a community can discuss and collaborate on standards and practices that can improve the feasibility and value of project analysis and measurement programs.
The Secret to Sustainable Open Source – Jenessa Petersen
I have been from start-up to large, open source company, to nonprofit tech and back again. Here’s what I’ve learned about communities, people, and open source – it’s all in the relationships. I’ll outline some of the personas of relationships in open source and how to be your genuine self while creating and sustaining a solid community.
