Session: 2 for 1: How to enable HTTPS everywhere (even internally) / Tips to prevent and survive burnout: I went through burnout, so you don’t have to
How to enable HTTPS everywhere (even internally) – Patrick Easters
We’ve all had to click through an HTTPS warning in our browsers or added an “insecure” flag to a curl command to reach a service we use. While using HTTPS on the internet is broadly treated as a requirement, services inside the firewall are often neglected. But it doesn’t have to be that way with open source software like Step Certificates and Caddy.
In this session, attendees will learn the importance of using HTTPS best practices inside internal environments and how to use these open source technologies to:
- Run their own certificate authority using the same protocols as LetsEncrypt
- Enable HTTPS by default in any environment
Tips to prevent and survive burnout: I went through burnout, so you don’t have to – Jason Hibbets
The work we do in technology and open source communities can put us into various high-stress situations. But you don’t want to put yourself in a situation where you overextend yourself and approach burnout. In this session, you’ll hear personal stories and experiences with burnout and learn ways to prevent and manage stress.
This session will help you:
- Understand the signs of burnout
- Learn techniques on how to prevent burnout
- Recognize signs of burnout for remote workers and distributed teams
- Discover ways to effectively manage stress in open source communities
