Gennaro (Jerry) Cuomo is an IBM Fellow and one of the most prolific contributors to IBM’s software business. He is most recognized as one of the founding fathers of WebSphere Software, whose innovations defined WebSphere as the industry-leading application server serving over 80,000 customers.

Cuomo has filed for over a hundred US patents. Jerry’s most visible patent is the first use of the “Someone is typing…” indicator used billions of times a day across all major instant messaging applications. At IBM, Cuomo has led projects in the areas of AI-Powered Automation, Blockchain, cloud & mobile computing and Web server performance and availability.

Jerry is the co-author of Blockchain for Business, and in 2022 published two booked titled Think Blockchain and Art of Automation, both accompanied with podcasts of the same name.
