Dr. Parnin’s research contributions are in software engineering, focusing on programmer cognition, automated infrastructure, and software ecosystems, publishing over 75 papers, and receiving four SIGSOFT Distinguished Paper Awards. He obtained his PhD from Georgia Tech, and he has worked in Human Interactions in Programming groups at Microsoft Research, performed field studies with ABB Research, and has over a decade of professional programming experience in the defense industry. Since joining NCSU, he has been awarded over $2.5M in research grants, including a Google Faculty Award, and NSF CAREER Award. His research has also been featured in hundreds of international news articles, magazines, and frequently discussed on industry forums.
